COULD IT BE??
Elatia might, just might be in early labor!!!!! She is having contractions with pain now, not bad pain, but noticeable pain. They aren't consistent yet, but it looks like we are heading in the right direction peeps! Here's hopin! more later!
Is a little excited and good in the Grammy-hood!!
Update 12:52a.m. we are going to bed now. Elatia is home and she is taking some benedryl so she can sleep. She said she is still having contractions. If things pick up, the contractions will wake her up and she will call me. Her and J.R. will come over here as contractions get closer and more intense. Looks like things are a movin and a shaken, here's hopin, but thank goodness it's not a movin and a shaken like it has been in Japan and other places around the world!
Getting a little more excited and it's getting real good in the Grammy-hood!
It is now 2:18a.m. and Elatia has called me saying her contractions are 5 mins apart already! Did not expect that so soon! I figured I had about 5 or 6 hours of sleep ahead of me. It would appear I am wrong. Sorry I took that Nyquil now, but my allergies were really acting up. Your daughter calling saying her contractions are 5 mins apart will bring you right out of a Nyquil fog fo sho! She is going to call me when they have lasted an hour because then she will be going to the hospital's triage to be checked to see how far along she is. If she is not that far along, she will come back to our house until she is ready to go back to the hospital. I have to finish getting ready to go to the hospital now, I want to be there for the triage visit just in case they suggest she needs to stay.
Is really freakin excited now and it's beyond good in the Grammy-hood!

DAY 6 OVER DUE
It's Friday and still no Kaliana! Elatia had an acupuncture appointment yesterday and today, but still no labor. Although, she is saying that her contractions are feeling a bit stronger. They are still mild, but stronger than what she has been feeling. Elatia, our cousin Chrissy and I went for a 2.6 mile walk tonight. Elatia didn't have to stop due to contractions at all. She kept a pretty good pace the entire time.
Chrissy and I are thinking about ordering Kaliana's cake anyway to show we are committed to her coming this weekend. Ya know, showing the powers that be, i.e. Kaliana, that we are ready for her to be here. I mean she will be here within a week no matter what. Whether Elatia goes into labor or she has a c-section, Kaliana will be here within the week! I really hope that Elatia goes into labor and is able to have a regular delivery. It would mean so much to me to be able to witness my granddaughter making her way into the world. I want that so much! What a magickal moment it would be for all of us to be there to welcome her here. I ain't gonna lie, I would be disappointed if I can't be there because of a c-section. I know bottom line all that matters is that both Elatia and Kaliana are healthy and ok, but I desperately want that magickal moment. I missed it with Andrew, so I want it this time!
Beyond impatient but good in the Grammy-hood!

ANNNNNND WAITING!
Here we are sliding into day 5 of being over due! Still no sign of Kaliana making her way here. Elatia has an acupuncture appointment tomorrow at 9:30a.m. Dr Luo had no appointments for today. I did a bit of reading up on inducing labor through acupuncture, ya gotta love Google, and it appears to be pretty successful. Usually within 48 hours labor starts, more often than not it starts in 4 to 5 hours after the treatment.
Elatia came out tonight to hear Martin play at the Irish Rover. When she got home she took a shower and her breasts felt different. Sure enough when she checked them, and I am not going to go into detail what she did, but she found that her colostrum is coming in! A great sign! So who knows, (definitely not us!) maybe this acupuncture appointment could work tomorrow and I will officially be a Grammy C in a day or two! Here's hopin!
Still extremely impatient but good in the Grammy-hood!

AND WAITING!
and waiting! The doctor said that nothing still has changed today, even though Elatia is feeling more pressure lower in her pelvic area. Here's hoping she gets to see Dr Luo tomorrow for an acupuncture treatment. Elatia goes back to triage on Thursday for another scan to check her fluid levels. The doctor told her to make an appointment for Monday the 14th. If she makes that appointment, it will be to schedule a c-section is my guess. By that point, I think we will all have resolved ourselves to the fact that this is the route that has to be taken.
Elatia was telling me today how she really wants to experience a regular birth with her friends and family there to welcome her daughter into the world with her and J.R. I told Elatia it is the most incredible experience you can ever have and I hope we all get to experience it together. If not, all that really matters is that our Kaliana makes it here safe and sound.
We go to Orlando to pick up our cousin Christine on Thursday. *sigh* Me and Elatia both feel like Ms Kaliana is never gonna get here!

STILL WAITING
Here we are 2 days over due. Elatia had to just keep her appointment today in triage. Tabby said since she wasn't sure what all they wanted done, to just come in for her appointment. I of course went, not sure why since I couldn't go in with her, and had to sit in the waiting area reading all the pamphlets there. It was interesting reading about what to do if you're addicted to drugs and your baby is born a drug addict. It was like a train wreck, I couldn't stop reading it! I was extremely happy that this was NOTHING I had to worry about! *phew*
Tabby told Elatia that her fluid levels, geez she sounds like a car, need to be over eight, up to twenty four. Eight and twenty four what? We have no idea. Eight gallons? Eight liters? Eight cc's? Hells if we know. All we know is that Elatia's fluid level is 9.8 so she is safe to be over due. Elatia said Kaliana had her hands in front of her face again. They had to stimulate her to get her to move to check her heart rate while she moved. All that was fine too. YAY!
Elatia went for a massage today with someone who works on pregnant women. The therapist worked on some pressure points to help stimulate labor. So far still nuttin. The massage therapist did say an acupuncture appointment should do the trick. Elatia did call her acupuncturist Dr Luo, which I believe is the reason Elatia is able to get pregnant, but she isn't in until Wednesday! UGH! DAMMIT! So Elatia is going to leave a message and hope she can get in on Wednesday. If anyone can get Elatia into labor, I believe Dr Luo can! She is amazing! She saved Elatia's life in my opinion!
Elatia has an appointment with her doctor tomorrow to come up with a game plan. Elatia is going to tell him that she wants to be induced first if labor doesn't start on it's own, not just jump into a c-section. I know he's not going to be happy about that since it might mess with his weekend plans. Even a nurse today said the doctors like to wrap up their deliveries before the weekend if they can. So if they can schedule a c-section to make their life easier, that is what they will try to do. That makes me so mad to get that confirmed! I knew that to be the case, but hoping I was wrong. Elatia will need to be firm with her doctor and let him know that a c-section is the LAST resort, NOT the first!
While Elatia is hoping she can see Dr Luo on Wednesday, but if labor doesn't start by Friday, that is when she would like to be induced. If it were me, I would wait until it was no longer safe to wait, but it's not up to me, so I will support Elatia in her decision. Right now, I think inducing by Friday is fair enough.
I was glad to read that sometimes the baby's head doesn't drop until right before labor. It confirmed for me what Melvin told me at work. The way Elatia's doctor talked, it's weird that Kaliana's head hasn't dropped by 38 weeks. The other doctor Elatia saw two weeks ago did her first internal exam. It was a woman doctor and she was so informative about the visit. She informed Elatia that her cervix was soft, short, and 50%-60% effaced, which is great for labor. Her regular doctor doesn't tell her anything really.
So here we are still anxiously awaiting the arrival of our granddaughter.

TICK TOCK TICK TOCK
Still no sign of our Kaliana! Tabby did inform Elatia that if her fluids are low, they will admit her to the hospital and induce her tomorrow. Good to know. That would have shocked us if we didn't know. Elatia's doctor is not big on giving details.
Elatia vacuumed her car today, drank some more red raspberry tea and still no change. I talked to a guy at work that was an OB in his country, not sure what country that was. How bad does your country have to be to leave being a doctor only to work at the Olive Garden in the U.S.? I'm thinking pretty bad...or you have to be an on the run doctor, but he is just too sweet for that. Anyway, he said it's not uncommon for the baby not to have dropped yet. He said it is still early and she could still drop, just give her time. I agree. As long as everything is ok, let Miss Kaliana arrive in her own time, no matter how impatient we might be!
