*SIGH* We are STILL waiting for Kaliana's arrival. Today is her due date and no sign of her coming yet either. *BIG SIGH* My friend's daughter was due a day or so after Elatia and she had her baby yesterday! WTF?! Kaliana's head hasn't dropped yet either, not sure what she is waiting for!
When we went to the doctor's appointment on March 3rd, the doctor said Elatia needs to go for a scan on Monday to make sure her fluid is still topped up so it's safe for her to go over her due date. Then the doc started talking c-section, which surprised me. When Elatia mentioned this to her friend Tabby, who is a labor and delivery nurse, she asked why didn't he mention inducing her first. I totally forgot about inducing. Why wouldn't he suggest that first? Tabby told her to tell the doctor that she wanted to be induced first before thinking about a c-section. I mean, if the baby isn't in any danger, why do a c-section right off the bat? Tabby is working triage tomorrow night, so she is going to check tonight to see if she can do Elatia's scan tomorrow night. That would be way cool if Tabs can do it.
We have a few friends that have been labor and delivery nurses or doulas and they all gave pointers on how to get the baby to drop down. So Elatia went for a swim today, used her breast pump the other day, that's suppose to release a chemical to stimulate labor like Pitocin, but that hasn't worked so far. She was also told to do squats to help open her pelvis. She's at Walmart now getting some red raspberry tea, that is suppose to stimulate the uterus. I know my midwife told me to drink it to strengthen the uterine muscles for labor when I was pregnant with Andrew. I told Elatia to get some bananas and walk around Walmart squatting and scratching her belly for fun. I told her I'd pay to see her do that! I don't think she will though, bummer! If I was with her I'd do it! A mother and daughter team squatting, walking around looking like orangutans around Walmart, priceless!
Today Martin and I bought a piece of furniture for Kaliana's room to hold her clothes. It's an antique gutted radio cabinet that I got at my favorite antique mall right up the road, The Rusty Spur. I found this place on a jog one day, it's been my crack ever since then. It's like my car automatically goes there. I can always feel when there is a piece in there for me, and I have found some pretty awesome pieces there.
Kaliana's room is starting to come together. The rocker/slider now fits in there since I let go of my treadmill finally. I joined a gym, so there is no reason for me to keep my treadmill anymore. I still used it, but it sucked, it kept slipping. I enjoy the treadmills at the gym so much more. I had to take down Andrew's weight bench when we got the crib, which was really hard for me. I got it for him for his 16th birthday right before he was diagnosed. He was so excited about getting the weight bench, he set it up the night we got it, so yeah, I was sad to have to take it down. BUT at least it was for a really great reason.
Well, regardless of what's going on, or not going on right now with Elatia and Kaliana, I should officially be a Grammy C next week some time and eating up Kaliana with any luck. All that matters is that Elatia and Kaliana have a great experience and are both healthy!
IT'S ALL GOOD IN THE GRAMMY-HOOD
